Learn more at .ResponsibilitiesIn keeping with the Dignity Health's health care philosophy, the certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is an expert in the management of the breast-feeding mother-baby dyad acting as coach, consultant, teacher, and lactation expert. Provides education to patients and staff in formal and informal settings. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Maternity Center, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatrics, and OB nursing care teams to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from the normal newborn to the complex neonate. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide continuity of care upon discharge. The position provides inpatient and outpatient lactation support and services to breastfeeding mothers / infants by physician or nurse referral. Participate in interdisciplinary performance improvement and clinical research to promote evidence based lactation services and to improve clinical outcomes. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice, guidelines, policies, procedures, and protocols within area of lactation and breastfeeding to meet goals and objectives of St. John's Regional Medical CenterQualificationsMinimum Requirements:

• Minimum two (2) years recent clinical experience in Mother and Baby Care with one (1) year as a Lactation Consultant in an acute care setting
• Specific training and certification in the area of lactation and breastfeeding
• Current IBLC Certification (CT LACCOUN)
• Current AHA CPR Certification (CT CPRBLS)Current AHA NRP Certification (CT NRP)Preferred Requirements:
  • Two (2) or more years of Lactation Consultant experience in an acute care setting and outpatient clinical experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Education, or related field
  • Master's Degree
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, both speaking and writing
  • CA Registered Nurse License (RG RN)Special Skills:
