The Planner/Scheduler 2 is responsible for performing routine planning and scheduling activities within operations departments at Haas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Scheduling of sales orders.
  • Perform sales order changes and "swaps" of customer orders.
  • Engineering Releases (ER) implementation and associated activities.
  • Maintenance of the production schedule.
  • Releasing and scheduling of production orders.
  • Proactive addressing of alerts (e.g.: part shortages).
  • Capacity analysis.
  • General support for the manufacturing floor and other departments.
  • Manual allocation of materials as necessary.
  • Creating and maintenance of BOM structures and routings.
  • Analyze work centers and identify bottlenecks. Coordinate with supervisors and managers to identify solutions to bottlenecks and actively participate in the resolution.
  • Analyze loads based on various production scenarios and provide summaries to supervisors and managers.
  • Work with Machine Shop planners in addressing shortages arising from the Machine Shop that adversely affect Assembly's ability to produce to the schedule.
  • Analyze basic problems that arise from the floor and how to resolve them properly (e.g.: Controlling Goods Issued (COGI), inventory inaccuracies, Bills of Material (BOM) errors, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Sales staff, providing status on production and coordinating with Sales to set production priorities.
  • COGI management, cycle counting and verification of proper part consumption.
  • Employees are expected to follow instructions, procedures and to escalate any issue impacting workflow, quality, etc. Additionally, there are high value items that require proper care and protection.


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) finite capacity scheduling within assembly.
  • General understanding of the complexity of the constraints in the Machine Shop as compared to Assembly.
  • General knowledge of the various work centers within the machine shop and how each is constrained or not constrained.
  • Solid MRP knowledge, including the use of constraints in planning.
  • Proficient in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software, especially in regards to Work Order Releasing, Report Structuring (variants and layouts), SAP Master Data, Routings, Material Requirements, Bills of Material (BOM), Production Order changes, etc.
  • Experienced in the maintenance of the production schedule. Understands all details of the schedule, how to sort and modify the schedule, and how to properly balance the schedule.
  • Knowledgeable in top-level machine variants. Understanding of how variants are configured, and the ability to create or modify variant configurations.
  • Knowledge of the shop, including both Assembly and the Machine Shop, the flow of material, the operational uniqueness of each area.
  • Employees must exhibit honesty and integrity as well as demonstrate adherence to rules, procedures and policies.


Bachelor's Degree BA/BS/BFA/BSA in Business from a four-year college or university is required, plus an additional 3+ years related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Must have the ability read and interpret documents; such as: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. In addition must also sufficiently write routine reports and business correspondence. It is imperative to adequately speak effectively before groups, customers, and/or employees of the organization.


Must have the ability to subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be capable to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must have ability to comprehend and apply concepts relating to geometrical dimensional tolerances. In addition, must have the ability to convert constants and values between differing units of measure.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly be required to access heavy computer use, including monitor, keyboard, mouse, trackball, touchpad, etc. Employee must occasionally lift/move test equipment and other objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This job operates in a General office/Engineering lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, etc., and limited work around machining or production floor is also required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
