Engineering & Sciences organization supporting the Advanced
Navigation business area at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS)
is looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Engineer
based out of Woodland Hills, CA. The Staff Systems Engineer plays a
key role in technical planning, system integration, and the
verification and validation of embedded software systems. Their
primary responsibility is development, integration, and
verification of the state-of-the-art M-code capable Embedded
GPS/Inertial Navigation System (EGI-M). The Staff Systems Engineer
collaborates closely with the Chief Engineer, Integration & Test
leads, and software development teams to maintain high standards
and deliver reliable solutions. The Staff Systems Engineer ensures
the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product
requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge
technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The Staff Systems
Engineer performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed
trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition
studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and
software specifications. Basic Qualifications for Staff Systems
Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of
hands-on System Engineering experience; 8 years of experience with
Masters; 5 Years with a PhD Demonstrated capability to define
system and software requirements for an INS/GPS system Experience
in INS/GPS Kalman filter design, requirements definition, and
system testing Demonstrated use of MATLAB for simulation and
INS/GPS system performance evaluation Experience with IMU
calibration and sensor error models Proven ability to design and
test of new system capabilities to add new features Experience
integrating INS/GPS hardware and software in a lab environment
Ability to troubleshoot and debug INS/GPS hardware and software
issues and provide feedback to hardware/software team Experience
with open hardware/software/system architecture solutions
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative development
environment Willingness and ability to work on site at our Woodland
Hills, CA facility Experience in the development and performance of
system tests US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain
security clearance Preferred Qualifications: Experience using DOORS
for system and software requirements management Experience
developing, verifying, certifying and releasing mission and
safety-critical software systems that comply with RTCA DO-178B/ C
or similar guidelines. Hands-on experience with one or more
communication protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429 or RS-422
MPR Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00 The above
salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop
Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary
offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and
the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market
conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible
for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in
addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward
individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in
company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions
may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop
