In keeping with the Dignity Healthcare core values, is responsible
for providing specialty occupational therapy assessments and
treatments to outpatients as evidenced by a high degree of
expertise in a given area or areas. Provides training and/or
supervision to staff occupational therapists. May supervise or be
responsible for a particular program such as inservice coordinator,
NICU follow-up program and/or day to day operations of a particular
area of the department. May have specialty certification in
occupational therapy field such as NDT, orthopedics, etc. or be
trained to perform videofluroscopies.
KEY WORDS: CLINICAL,CT, CPR BLS, RG, OT, THERAPY, HOSPITAL,
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience; evidence of
extensive training in a given specialty area. Specialty areas may
include but not be limited to: neuro rehabilitation, orthopedics,
pediatrics, swallowing, hand rehabilitation, pain management and
- Current California license in Occupational Therapy.
- Current CPR.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to
work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members,
physicians, hospital departments and the general public.
- Demonstrates knowledge of teaching and leadership skills
including a proficiency for conceptual thinking, motivating,
teaching principles and problem solving.
- Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of the principles,
standard practices, procedures and equipment utilized in the
department. Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
Must also have the ability and willingness to actively participate
in departmental and hospital programs. Demonstrates self-motivation
and ability to achieve results through good organizational skills
and prioritization of work. Knowledge and understanding of
pertinent standards and regulations including DHS and The Joint
Commission. Ability to gather, comprehend and interpret data for
Quality Improvement activities. Ability to work independently and
be a functional team member in a team oriented environment. Ability
to be mentor/coach student interns or oversee their clinical
experience. Ability to be flexible with caseload within any given
day, as needed for the benefit of the department. Promotes O.T.
services in the community as appropriate.
