Job Description:
Primary Medical is looking for outstanding, experienced,
patient-focused Medical Assistants in various office locations in
Ventura County.
Established in 1994, our award- winning practice specializes in
Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Endocrinology.
We serve patients in seven offices located across Ventura County;
in the cities of Ventura, Santa Paula, Oxnard, and Camarillo. Our
offices are family-friendly, and our healthcare providers pay
special attention to preventive care and regular monitoring for
patients with chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart
disease.
Medical Assistants help patients by providing information,
services, and assistance. They may be involved in both the clinical
and administrative areas including assisting physicians with
patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and
organizational tasks. Other duties include securing medical
records, maintaining, medical supplies, and inventory, performing
preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating. The successful
candidate must be an exceptionally organized team player who is
able to manage multiple priorities at once, in a fast-paced medical
office, with flexibility to work in a different location, as
needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Medical Assistants perform the following duties, but not limited
to:
Enter patient's information into electronic chart. This includes
active problems, medications, allergies, past medical history,
surgical history, social history and immunizations.
Prepare patients for examination.
Reconcile patient medications and allergies at every
appointment.
Review and enter the patients' preferred pharmacy.
Document reason for patient visit in the electronic chart.
Measure and document patient height, weight, and vital signs with
accuracy.
Administer medications and injections as ordered.
Prepare laboratory samples and complete procedures as ordered by
provider.
Place electronic orders for laboratory or radiology testing as
ordered by provider.
Place electronic orders for refill medications as authorized under
protocol.
Communicate with the pharmacy, the laboratory or radiology as
needed to facilitate orders or retrieve medical records.
Process incoming faxed prescriptions refill requests and other
clinical paperwork per protocol.
Process outgoing clinical paperwork in the provider outboxes
multiple times throughout the day.
Receive patient phone calls and triage as appropriate utilizing
standard guidelines provided.
Communicate with patients by phone or mail as ordered by
providers.
Maintain clean exam rooms and stock with supplies and gowns.
Clean and sanitize medical instruments, equipment and rooms.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment at all times such as
gloves, eye protection and masks when cleaning or preforming
procedures.
Stock and store supplies that are delivered to the office.
Any other duties or responsibilities the clinical staff may be
assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, a Medical Assistant must be able
to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent
(GED). Knowledge of medical terminology. Medical Assistant diploma
or certificate of completion from a medical assistant training
program is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification/CPR certification preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is
a plus, but not required.
Knowledge / Technical Skills: Duties require professional verbal
and written communication skills; Understanding of principles and
practices of the organization, planning, records management and
general administration. Dependability, adaptability and
confidentiality are necessary attributes.
Customer Service Skills: Politeness, confidence, tact, patience and
diplomacy while dealing with complex and confidential situations.
Excellent communication skill. Problem solving skills; Ability to
maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all
members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those
that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently
required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently
required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with
hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is
occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee
must regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and
occasionally lift and/or move up to forty (40) pounds. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color
vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
