A For more information, visit: A www.dignityhealth.org/centralcoastResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:.The Manager of Facilities/Biomedical Engineer shall be accountable to the Director of Facilities Management for planning and maintaining effective management practices of the Safety, Fire Life & Safety, Clinical Engineering and plant operations departments. This position oversees the operations of the Clinical Engineering Department for the purpose of providing a quality, cost effective program that meets or exceeds the quality and financial expectations of the customer and CHIas National Clinical Engineering Program. This position is responsible for providing the customer with an aggressive clinical engineering program that lowers their annual maintenance cost, increases equipment life cycles, and above all, provides the highest level of customer service. This position provides assistance with technology assessments, capital purchasing, and equipment safety.Principle Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Oversees operations of Clinical Engineering Department by: conducting quarterly department head visits and meetings; ensuring that client reports are delivered in a timely manner; providing a working environment that meets all OSHA guidelines; and completing and maintaining all performance indicators at or above program targets.
  • Schedules and supervises the work of skilled and technical personnel involved in biomedical and maintenance of hospital buildings, systems, and medical equipment.
  • Surprises the repair, servicing and installation of mechanical equipment for existing and new systems, coordinates contract and vendor maintenance activites for biomedical and facilities.
  • Schedules and conducts ttraining sessions, on the operation of electronics, mechanical and electrical systems for biomedical and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures financial performance of department by: conducting regular department head visits and meetings to review performance of Clinical Engineering program; maintaining PM/CM completion at or above expectations; being actively involved in capital asset planning, purchasing, etc., and other committees as assigned; conducting customer satisfaction surveys as required.
  • Ensures financial performance by: attaining all expense budgets and cost containment targets; ensuring that expenditure authority and level are adhered to; and forwarding, in a timely manner, all appropriate POas, invoices and financial details to the appropriate sources.
  • Manages and oversees technical personnel recruitment, training and development. This includes holding all necessary staff meetings; training technical staff; providing written measurable objectives; coordinating vacation, sick days etc.; and performing midyear and annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensures smooth communications and reporting to and from each account as applicable. This includes conducting all necessary meetings with facility administration, and forwarding all positive and negative customer/vendor communications to designated supervisor for review.
  • Provides professional team and personal growth that meets the needs of the customer and employees.
  • Networks with peers to gain innovative ideas and sourcing of information.
  • Grows the program by gaining the confidence of clinical department heads and maintaining positive relationships.#ClinicalEngineering-LI-DHQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
    • Associate of Arts/Science degree in a related field required
    • Five (5+) or more years of experience in either facility biomedical and maintenance or mechanical system repair & operation.A Minimum two (2+) years experience in a labor union environment preferred.
    • Must have the ability to organize and supervise employees.
    • Must have advanced knowledge of the tools and test equipment associated with the repair and servicing of mechanical and electronicsA equipment.associated with the repair and servicing of mechanical and electronics equipment.
    • Must be proficient in the reading of blue prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
    • Must have excellent written,oral and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
    • Must be available to respond on a 24 hour call-in.
    • Must be computer literate and have knowledge of various software programsA such as preventive maintenance, work order and building automation systems.Preferred Qualifications:
      • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in a related field,A or a combination of experience preferred.
